TreeHouse wellbeing and counselling can offer you a place which is safe, compassionate and free-from judgement to explore your concerns and difficulties. A place just for you, unique to you and somewhere you can be completely you. If you need a space to talk, finding your TreeHouse could offer you a place to express yourself freely.

Counselling

Everybody is unique and has their own way of processing their inner world and struggles.

I'm Georgia and I know that discussing your mental health can be a daunting and vulnerable experience, therefore creating a safe space which is empathetic, trusting and free from judgement is my fundamental way of working. I regard myself as a humanistic integrative counsellor with all the work we do being completely centred around you, taking it entirely at your pace and adapted to you. I offer a range of ways of working, from simply sitting and talking to expressing yourself in creative ways. Our counselling work is a place where you can feel seen and heard.

Both face to face and online sessions are available, with face to face sessions being offered in York city centre and Sherburn in Elmet.

Walk and Talk

Walking in nature offers both physical and mental health benefits, from the rhythmic sounds of birds to the calming views of rolling hills.

Walking stimulates both sides of your brain, known as a process called 'bilateral stimulation'. This can help soothe anxiety and facilitate feelings of relaxation. Additionally, it can also enhance your ability to process emotions and experiences, making it a helpful strategy to integrate into therapeutic work.

Furthermore, not everyone finds sitting and talking for 50 minutes an accessible experience. Walk and talk therapy allows you to keep moving and be side-by-side with the counsellor as opposed to eye-to-eye. This mode of counselling could be particularly suited to anyone who prefers to be on the move or struggles with eye contact.

These sessions are offered on both a one-to-one basis. They can be standalone or integrated into counselling work and available to all ages.

Wellbeing

Finding ways to manage your mental health can be an overwhelming and frustrating experience.

With the amount of information out there, it can be difficult to know where to start. TreeHouse’s creative wellbeing sessions are informative, educational and offer you a space to start finding ways to help you feel empowered. The practical sessions surround:

  • Managing Anxiety
  • Boosting Self Esteem
  • Enhancing Resilience

The sessions operate on the understanding that emotional management or ‘self care’ strategies are not a ‘one size fits all’ approach. Instead, they offer you the informative psychoeducation and a starting point to find, develop and adapt your emotional management strategies. The majority of time in each session will be creative and practical, creating visual resources so you are able to visualise emotions and concepts. As a humanistic counsellor, I take a person-centred approach when delivering these workshops, with you as the expert on yourself.
